49 COVID-19 patients under treatment in Sikkim

Forty nine patients in Sikkim are undergoing treatment for COVID-19 in government hospitals while 29 others were discharged after they recovered from the disease till date, a health official said on June 23.

“On June 22, four COVID-19 positive patients were admitted to government hospital and four others were discharged as well. So, we have 49 still under treatment,” said Pempa Tshering Bhutia, Director General cum Secretary Health.

Informing about the status of dialysis process in the government hospital, Bhutia said that it will take some more time to start dialysis as the manpower is being trained.

He advised all the 50-60 patients wanting dialysis not to hasten their return to Sikkim. “Once the hands-on training of the technicians is over, the government will start dialysis. To begin with it will be initiated in Gayzing hospital, West district. Such returnees will be sent for quarantine, followed by tests. Those with negative reports will be sent for dialysis. They will be provided with facility of quarantine in home state,” the official said.
