Meghalaya Police on June 12 arrested a doctor allegedly for molesting two women at North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) hospital in Shillong, police said.

The accused is a senior resident doctor with the hospital’s medicine department.

The two victims had on June 11 morning gone to the hospital for a check-up at the hospital where the doctor allegedly molested them.

“We have arrested the doctor based on a police complaint lodged by the family members of the two women,” Claudia Lyngwa, district police chief of East Khasi Hills, told news agency UNI.

She said investigation is on.

NEIGRIHMS Director P Bhattacharya said that the resident doctor will be placed under suspension since he has been arrested on charges of molestation.
