Arunachal Pradesh chief secretary announcing the lockdown in Itanagar Capital Complex on July 4

Arunachal Pradesh government has decided to clamp total lockdown in Itanagar Capital Complex, due to the increasing cases of COVID-19.

Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar, addressing a press conference, informed that the Capital Complex will be under total lockdown from 5 am of July 6 to 5 pm of July 12.

He added that there will be certain exemptions but the details about the same will only be announced on July 5.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, in a tweet, informed about the decision and added that detailed guidelines and SOP for compliance will be issued shortly.

“Itanagar Capital Complex will be under lockdown from 6th July (Monday) till 12th July (Sunday). Detailed guidelines and SOP for compliance will be issued shortly,” he tweeted.

The Itanagar Capital Complex has seen rapid increase in the number of COVID-19 cases recently. The chief secretary mentioned that the administration was worried of the upward trend and hence had to take a course correction step.

The Capital Complex has highest number of COVID-19 cases in the state. A total of 89 cases have been reported so far out of which active cases stands at 81 and eight discharged.

On July 3, as many as 20 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Arunachal Pradesh, taking the total number of cases to 252.

Of the 20 cases, eight were reported from West Kameng, six each from Changlang and Itanagar Capital Complex, as per bulletin issued by the state Directorate of Health Services (DHS).

Out of these six cases from Itanagar Capital Complex, five had returned from Assam and one from Bihar.

Among the West Kameng district cases, two returned from Maharashtra, one each from Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Telangana.

Of the six Changlang cases, three had returned from Tamil Nadu, two from Uttar Pradesh and one from Haryana, the bulletin said.

“All the cases have been detected from quarantine facilities. Sixteen cases are asymptomatic while four cases are having mild symptoms of COVID-19 and they are in the DCHC in military hospital,” it said.

According to the bulletin, four COVID-19 patients were also discharged as they have tested negative for two consecutive terms and advised for strict 14-days home quarantine and self monitoring.

Out of these four, three discharged from Changlang and one from West Kameng districts.

A total of 252 COVID-19 cases have been reported so far in Arunachal Pradesh. Out of these, active cases in the state stand at 176, 75 discharged and one death.
