Mizoram government has postponed the opening of schools for the academic session due to the containment measures in place to prevent the spread of Novel Coronavirus.

In early June, the state government had decided to open educational institutions for the new academic session 2020-21 from July 15.

“We would not be able to open schools during July as the Ministry of Home Affairs directed all states not to open educational and training institutes till July end due to the rapidly increasing COVID-19 cases in the country,” Minister of School Education Lalchhandama Ralte said on July 4.

Meanwhile, the board examination for Class XII, which was recommenced from July 1, had ended successfully on July 3.

About 7,026 students have written their pending subjects in economics, chemistry, sociology, computer science and home science during the three days examinations.

According to the education minister, results of the Class XII Board examinations and Class X compartmental examinations are scheduled to be declared before July 15.
