The COVID-19 tally in Assam continued to increase with 1,457 new cases detected on August 1, while the death toll crossed 100.

State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that out of 27,161 tests conducted during the day, 1457 were found to be positive for COVID-19.

Among the new cases, 275 were from Kamrup Metro district, while Dibrugarh and Sonitpur districts also reported over 100 cases each.

The overall COVID-19 tally in the state stands at 41,726.

Three COVID-19 deaths were confirmed in the state on August 1, taking the toll to 101.

The number of active COVID 19 positive cases currently is 11,265.

Over 30,000 COVID-19 positive patients have recovered in the state so far.
