BJP National President J P Nadda on August 11 said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘bold’ decision to impose nationwide lockdown helped the country immensely to tackle the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Speaking to party workers in Assam via video conferencing, Nadda said that prime minister took bold decisions like lockdown to help people of the country during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

It may be mentioned here, that the PM Narendra Modi has faced criticism from opposition parties for imposing complete nationwide lockdown which according to them was ‘poorly planned’.

Giving details of works done during the ongoing pandemic by the government, Nadda said in last four months 1,400 dedicated COVID-19 hospitals has been set up across the country.

Nadda said the testing capacity has augmented from 150 to 1,400 in last four months. Similarly, PPE kit production presently stands at 4 lakh per day.

Nadda also said that the economic package announced by the PM at the start of the pandemic has helped millions of poor people otherwise whole country would have got impacted by the pandemic.

Nadda said that World Health Organsation chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus praised PM Narendra Modi for his efforts to help the poor amid the lockdown imposed to contain the COVID-19 epidemic.

Nadda addressing the newly elected office bearers of Assam state BJP, praised the Sonowal government in Assam for handling the booth flood and COVID-19 situation simultaneously.

He urged the party workers to reach to the grassroots people with various welfare schemes of the government.
