Manohari Gold tea has created a record by fetching Rs 75,000 per kilogram at Guwahati Tea Auction Centre (GTAC) on October 29.

The gold tea was purchased by Guwahati-based tea trading group Vishnu Tea Company at the auction. Now, the tea will be sold across the world by Vishnu Tea Company on its digital e-commerce website (9amtea.com).

Thus the Gold team of Manohari tea estate in Dibrugarh district has equalled the record created by nearby Dikom tea estate’s Golden Butterfly Tea which was created in 2019.

As per Rajan Lohia, the proprietor of Manohari tea estate, the garden’s most special tea, Manohari Gold Tea, which is a rare variety, has made a hat trick of records.

This year the garden managed to produce only 2.5 kilogram of handmade gold tea. In 2018, the Manohari Gold tea was sold for Rs 39,001 per kilogram, which was the highest at that time, and in the following year it again set a new record by fetching Rs 50,000 per kilogram.

GTABA secretary Dinesh Bihani said in a statement that after a gap of one year, they were thrilled to get this opportunity to sell the Manohari Gold Tea, a famous and rare variety of tea from Assam, in auction sale at Rs 75,000 per kilogram.
