Assam assembly elections will be held in three phases on March 27 (47 constituencies), April 1 (39 constituencies) and April 6 (40 constituencies). Voting will be held in three phases for the 126 legislative assembly seats in Assam.
Counting of results will be held on May 2.
Election Commission of India (ECI) on February 26 announced the election dates in Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.

ECI announced that the polling time has been increased by one hour due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Also, a number of restrictions on campaigning were announced by the commission due to the pandemic.
Chief election commissioner Sunil Arora further informed that the model code of conduct (MCC) has come into force with the announcement of the elections.
Earlier on February 24, the poll panel held a meeting to finalise the dates for the poll-bound states — Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala — and Union Territory Puducherry.
Polls are to be held for 294 seats in West Bengal, 234 seats in Tamil Nadu, 140 seats in Kerala, 126 seats in Assam and 30 seats in Puducherry.
