An accidental grenade blast killed a minor boy at Kotha Adarsha Gaon in Tinsukia district of Assam on May 11.

Police said that the “accidental blast” took place after the minor picked a grenade on the banks of the Buridihing river.

Assam Police said that the grenade “may have been mistakenly dropped by security forces” during routine movement in the area.

“Today an unfortunate accidental blast took place at Kotha Adarsha Gaon, Tinsukia at 8:30 am, in which a minor boy lost his life when he picked a grenade on the banks of the Buridihing. The grenade may have been dropped mistakenly by security forces during routine movement in the area,” the Assam Police posted on Facebook.

They added that further investigation was on.
