Assam government will make available online appointment slots for COVID-19 vaccination at 4 pm simultaneously on CoWIN for all districts in the state.

Director of health services (family welfare) Munindra Nath Ngatey on May 10 informed that all the district officials were directed to open the slots for booking at 4 pm every evening.

“Slot booking time will be open for all from 4 pm every evening. I have directed all the districts,” the Assam government official wrote in reply to a tweet questioning the unavailability of vaccination slots, especially for the 18-44 age group.

The government has made it mandatory for the 18-44 age group to register and book appointment slots online through CoWIN for the vaccination. Walk-ins are only allowed for the 45+ category.

As the slots were being updated randomly, several tech-savvy users were using alert tools powered by the CoWIN APIs to get quick access. Telegram groups providing instant alerts on vaccine availability were a hit among the netizens.
