Low-cost carrier IndiGo airlines on June 30 announced the resumption of the Shillong-Agartala-Shillong flight service from July 1 onwards.

The flight service will be available trice a week.

A 78-seater ATR aircraft will connect the two important cities of Northeast India on every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, IndiGo officials said.

According to the schedule, the flight will take off from Shillong at 1020 hrs and reach Agartala at 1120 hrs. The same flight will return from Agartala at 1140 hrs for an hour-long journey to Shillong.

After the opening of Shillong airport in the middle of 2019, IndiGo had started operations between Shillong and Kolkata and at the end of last year connected Agartala. However, due to the spike in COVID-19 cases in Meghalaya, the flight operation was suspended for three months.

IndiGo authorities, after air traffic assessment, decided to resume the flight between Shillong and Agartala from July under low-cost regional connectivity scheme UDAN.

However, flights between Agartala and Aizawl remain suspended due to lack of passengers.
