Lungla in Tawang district of Arunachal gets fuel station

It was a cheerful moment for the residents of Lungla and adjoining areas in Tawang district of Arunachal Pradesh, as the remote sub-divisional headquarter got a filling station.

Lungla is one of the oldest sub-divisional headquarters in Tawang district which was established way back in 1954.

The filling station, situated at Brumateng around 2 km ahead of the headquarters, was inaugurated by Lungla additional deputy commissioner, Tashi Dhondup, in presence of ZPM Lungla Thutan Gombu, former ZPC Tawang Tsering Lhamu, PRI members and other government officials.

Lungla sub-divisional headquarters is 45 km away from Tawang, while Jemeithang EAC headquarters is 100 km from Tawang and was established as circle headquarters in 1959.

“People living in these far-flung areas had to depend completely for fuel on filling stations at Tawang headquarters,” a statement from the DIPR said.

“A few months back, an independent LPG distributor has also started functioning in the area and with the opening of the first filling station in the sub-division, this would increase the pace of developmental activities in the area,” said Lungla additional deputy commissioner, Tashi Dhondup.

“This would also help our para military forces and other emergency services for easy refuelling. Now, people needn’t have to stock POL item at their homes risking their life,” he added.

“Due to COVID-19 the pace of developmental activities has been slowed, otherwise the filling station would have been made functional earlier. But in spite of COVID-19 restrictions our people never stopped the works, due to which this could be materialized,” the ADC said congratulating the people of the area for having a new filling station.
