VP Jagdeep Dhankhar

West Bengal governor Jagdeep Dhankhar has expressed concern on his state governments’ “worrisome” human rights records.

Coming down heavily on the Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal, governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on December 10, in a series of tweets, expressed concern over the “worrisome human rights violations” in the state.

Stating “rule of ruler and not of law”, Dhankhar tweeted: “Worrisome human rights violations @MamataOfficial. Only ‘rule of ruler and not of law’ @India_NHRC. Need for massive uplift.”

“Politicised bureaucracy @IASassociation @IPS_Association @WBPolice @KolkataPolice constitutes a severe threat to democracy. #HumanRight #HumanRightsDay2021,” he added.

He also tweeted a video comment on the functioning of the Mamata Banerjee-led government in West Bengal.

“Situation @MamataOfficial far distanced from ‘where the mind is without fear and the head is held high’. Governance is distancing from Constitution and rule of law,” the governor added.

Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar further tweeted: “Disturbing that administration @WBPolice @KolkataPolice ignores ‘be you never so high, the law is above you’.”
