A team of narcotic and affairs of border (NAB) of Manipur Police arrested an alleged drug peddler along with a huge quantity of heroin powder and WY tablets, according to police.

The arrested person has been identified as Letminthang of Churachandpur district presently residing in Tengnoupal district, the police also said.

He was arrested along with 600 gm of heroin powder packed in 55 soap caps and 10,000 pieces of WY tablets weighing about one kg by the NAB team from Kangpokpi district on February 18.

The illegal drugs were found concealed in the fuel tank of a car he came with, the police further said.

The NAB team on random frisking and checking along the highway as a part of drive against illicit trafficking of drugs in view of the ensuing assembly election intercepted the vehicle, the police source also said.

The car and a mobile phone handset were also seized from his possession.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested person brought the seized contraband items from one person from Myanmar to be delivered to a lady drug trafficker in north Imphal area, according to the police.

The lady drug trafficker will then smuggle to other states of the country, showing national and international ramifications, the police source added.

A regular case was registered at NAB police station for further investigation, the police further added.
