A generic promotional event of Assam tea, called Hi Tea, was organised by Unplanned Events, a corporate shows & event planner company, in collaboration with Tea Board of India at the premises of Tezpur University on March 27.
The campaign aimed at generic promotion of Assam tea as an upscale drink among the youth by creating awareness of the specific characteristics of tea on the basis of its varieties, specific aroma, taste and properties.
An exclusive exhibition on varieties of tea like Oolong, CTC, Orthodox and Green tea; live tea art, tea tasting, musical show, games & quiz segment on general tea trivia was organised as part of the programme which witnessed a footfall of around 2,500 people.
The inaugural ceremony of the event was attended by Dhanpati Deka, dean of students’ welfare at Tezpur University, Manuj Kumar Hazarika, professor, food, engineering & technology at Tezpur University, and Amrita Chakraborty, assistant director at Tea Board of India.
An elaborate tea tasting ceremony was organized where team of research scholars — Aftab Ansari (physics department), Tridisha Bordoloi (food engineering & technology department), Sonam Kumari (food engineering & technology department) and Prachurjya Kumar (mass communication department) of the university appreciated and actively took part in.
The curation and management of the event was done by Unplanned Events, co-founded by Manas Borah & Neetu Kakoti of Tezpur. They are also co-founders of Tezpur Online – an e-commerce platform catering to online shopping facility for Sonitpur & neighbouring districts.
