India recorded 3,205 new COVID-19 infections in a single day, bringing the total number of active cases to 19,509 and the total number of infections to 4,30,88,118, according to figures provided on May 4 by the Union health ministry.

Additionally, the statistics published at 8 am revealed that 31 deaths occurred within the 24-hour period, bringing the total death toll to 5,23,920.

According to the data, the active COVID-19 caseload has increased by 372 cases to 19,509 cases.

Active cases account for 0.05 per cent of total infections, according to the health ministry, which also noted that the country’s COVID-19 recovery rate is 98.74 per cent.

The daily positivity rate was 0.98 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate was 0.76 per cent, the ministry reported.

The number of persons who recovered from the disease increased to 4,25,44,689, with a 1.22 per cent case fatality rate.

Cumulative doses delivered in the country as part of the national COVID-19 immunisation effort have surpassed 189.48 crore.

On August 7, 2020, India’s COVID-19 tally topped the 20,000 level, and surpassed the one-crore milestone on December 19. It surpassed the two crore mark on May 4 and the three crore mark on June 23.
