Nagaland Police arrested two persons hailing from Manipur for possession of suspected banned drugs.

Based on specific input, Nagaland Police personnel of the narcotic cell mobile unit intercepted a Guwahati-bound vehicle which was coming from Imphal, near Peducha in Kohima on July 1 at around 1 am.

A thorough search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of 1 lakh suspected Yaba tablets (WY), neatly wrapped with yellow tape in 10 different packets containing 10,000 tablets each, and concealed inside a specially-built compartment near the spare tyre, the police said.

According to the police, an approximate value of the recovered banned drugs is around Rs 20 lakh.

The suspected contraband items were duly seized and two occupants of the vehicle namely David Jamkholun Baite (27 years) and Thongminthang (31 years) were arrested. Both of them are residents of Tengnoupal district of Manipur, the police added.

A case under NDPS Act has been registered for further investigation, the police further added.
