Currently on a tour to his assembly constituency of Mechuka in Arunachal Pradesh, assembly speaker Pasang Dorjee Sona on December 4 inspected the civil terminal building at the Mechuka Advanced Landing Ground (ALG) which is nearing completion, official sources said.

“Much awaited Civil Terminal at Mechuka is almost ready. Fixed-Wing Dornier 228 aircraft will soon start its service from Mechuka facilitating easy and quick movement of people,” Sona said in a tweet after inspecting the civil terminal building.

Sona was accompanied by Shi-Yomi deputy commissioner Mito Dirchi, Mechukha ADC Kesang Goiba and officials from the concerned department.

While interacting with the departmental officials, Sona expressed satisfaction over the work and directed them to complete the remaining work.

After Pasighat, Tezu, Ziro and Itanagar, fixed-wing Dornier 228 aircraft will start its operation at Mechuka in Shi-Yomi. The ‘Made-in-India’ Dornier aircraft service will not only facilitate easy and fast movement of the public but will also help in boosting the tourism sector in the region.

On the day, the speaker also inspected various developmental projects including a multipurpose hall, festival ground, new OPD building, 40-bedded hospital and newly-constructed meat market.

While stressing that the quality of work should not be compromised at any cost, he urged the department concerned to strictly monitor and maintain the same, the sources added.
