Police fire tear gas to control mob in Manipur

Manipur Police fired tear gas shells to control a mob who burnt tyres, vehicles late December 5 night at Khurai, Imphal East district.

Police said there was a report of a damage of a temple following which nearby residents came out and burnt vehicles, tyres and blocked the main road.

To control the mob, police fired tear gas shells and by midnight normalcy was restored.

On December 6, police maintained vigil in the area to stop occurrence of any untoward incident.

State authorities have warned people not to spread rumours and create misunderstanding.
