Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan called up Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in the wee hours on January 22 and they reportedly discussed about the actor’s upcoming movie ‘Pathaan’.
Earlier on January 21, during a press conference in Guwahati, Himanta Biswa Sarma had said that he didn’t know who Shah Rukh Khan was.
The chief minister was replying to a question on the violence in a Guwahati-based multiplex where activists of Bajrang Dal burnt the posters of the movie ‘Pathaan’ and threatened not to screen the movie.
Bollywood actor Shri @iamsrk called me and we talked today morning at 2 am. He expressed concern about an incident in Guwahati during screening of his film. I assured him that it’s duty of state govt to maintain law & order. We’ll enquire and ensure no such untoward incidents.

Khan’s movie ‘Pathaan’ is being opposed by the right-wing Hindu groups like Bajrang Dal and others on the ground of hurting the sentiments of Hindus.
“I don’t know who is Shah Rukh Khan. He didn’t call me either,” the chief minister had said a day earlier.
‘Pathaan’ is set to release on January 25.
