This is the story of Diganta Das from Assam which will inspire many others to accept challenges and transform them into opportunities.
Diganta Das, a manual worker at the packaged food industry in South India, has become an inspiration for many in Assam by setting up small packaged paratha (parota) making units in Biswanath Chariali and Lakhimpur during the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to multiple challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Diganta returned home and started his venture, which has now become a huge success.
With the help of two other partners, Diganta has been using technology and machinery from South India to produce the finest quality paratha. Each unit employs 10-12 people, and they are churning out an average of 1200 packets daily at each center.
Senior journalist Mrinal Talukdar has shared Diganta’s inspiring story on Twitter, lauding his entrepreneurial spirit and determination. Diganta’s success has inspired similar units to be set up in Jorhat and Dibrugarh by like-minded individuals, while a known brand markets their products.
