Major reshuffle in Meghalaya police

The Meghalaya government carried out a reshuffle among some superintendents of police in various districts across the state.

Following the conclusion of the Meghalaya assembly elections, Sylvester Nongtnger has been brought back as SP of East Khasi Hills district in place of MG Raghavendra Kumar. Kumar will now look after the criminal investigation department as SP.

The government has also brought back Vivek Syiem, assistant inspector general (law and order), as SP of Shillong while incumbent, Ringrang TG Momin, has been transferred and posted as SP of fire and emergency services in Tura, West Garo Hills against an existing vacancy.

Kumar will take over from Dara Aswaghosh who has been transferred and posted as SP (traffic) in East Khasi Hills.

West Khasi Hills SP Darwin M Sangma has been transferred and posted as SP of fire and emergency services in place of Nongtnger.

The government has brought SP of West Jaintia Hills, Bikram D Marak as SP of West Khasi Hills, and in his place, it has appointed commandant of 3rd Meghalaya police battalion, Chemphang Syrti.

The SP of South Garo Hills and East Garo Hills will swap places, as per the government order.

Siddharth Kumar Ambedkar will take over as the new SP of East Garo Hills while Abraham T Sangma will become the new SP of South Garo Hills.
