ANI Photo | Assam: Fire breaks out at Numaligarh Refinery in Golaghat

A major fire erupted on May 29 evening at the Hydrocracker unit of Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) located in Golaghat district, Assam. The incident was accompanied by a loud explosion, although the exact cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

Upon receiving reports of the fire, the fire and safety department of NRL swiftly responded to the scene along with fire tenders to contain the situation. Kajal Saikia, general manager (HR) of NRL, confirmed that there have been no reports of any injuries resulting from the incident.

“The fire broke out at the Hydrocracker unit of NRL. Our fire and safety department immediately initiated efforts to extinguish the flames. At present, the fire is under control, and there have been no casualties,” stated Kajal Saikia.

Saikia added that a thorough technical inquiry will be conducted by NRL to determine the precise cause of the fire and assess the extent of the damage incurred.

As of now, the situation is under control, and authorities continue to monitor the aftermath of the incident closely.

Golaghat is situated around 285 kilometres east of the state capital Guwahati.
