Four cricketers from Assam have been selected to represent the East Zone in the Deodhar Trophy. The East Zone selectors announced it on July 13.

Deodhar Trophy, a List A domestic tournament is scheduled to commence from July 24 to August 3 in Puducherry.

Right-handed batter Rishav Das, all-rounder Riyan Parag, left-arm spinner Avinav Chowdhury and right-arm medium fast bowler Muktar Hussain will join the East Zone team.

Rishav, a promising batsman known for his elegant strokeplay, will look to make his mark on the tournament with his impeccable technique and solid batting prowess. Riyan, an agile all-rounder, brings a dynamic element to the squad, possessing the ability to contribute with both bat and ball. Avinav, a left-arm spinner, adds a valuable spin-bowling option to the team, capable of bamboozling opponents with his flight and turn. Muktar, a right-arm medium-fast bowler, completes the list of Assam players in the East Zone team.

Furthermore, Shib Shankar Roy, a left-handed batter, has been kept on standby and will provide vital backup if the need arises.

The 2023 Deodhar Trophy will be the 48th edition of the Deodhar Trophy, a domestic List A cricket competition. The tournament will be played across six zones, forming part of the 2023 Indian domestic cricket season, announced by the BCCI in April 2023. Deodhar Trophy was last held in 2019, and this is also the first time it will be played in a zonal format since 2014.
