On July 30, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla inaugurated the new building of the Assam Legislative Assembly in Guwahati. Numal Momin, the Deputy Speaker of the Assam Legislative Assembly, had earlier stated that the next assembly session would be held in the new building.

Momin highlighted that the new building boasts new features and that they are planning to introduce e-Vidhan, making it the first modern assembly in Assam. He mentioned that the construction of the building began during the Congress regime and was later re-designed to suit the current government’s vision. With the government’s intensified efforts, the new building was successfully inaugurated on July 30.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal graced the occasion with their presence.

The Deputy Speaker also confirmed that the Lok Sabha Speaker, the Chief Minister, cabinet colleagues, and members of the Assam Legislative Assembly were all present at the inauguration ceremony, and the necessary preparations for the event were in place.
