Arunachal NPP announces Paknga Bage as its candidate for Dumporijo seat

In a first, Arunachal Pradesh unit of Nationalist People’s Party (NPP) on August 10 announced the name of one of its candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in the state, which will be held in 2024.

“Former MLA and NPP state general secretary Paknga Bage will contest the 2024 assembly elections from the Dumporijo constituency in Upper Subansiri district,” announced NPP state president and former Minister Thangwang Wangham at a press conference here.

“He is capable and a visionary leader who wants to work for the welfare of the people of Dumporijo,” Wangham said.

Bage’s candidacy has been finalized by the party high command, considering his “immense potential and popular demand of the public of his constituency,” he added.

Bage, who won the 2014 assembly election from Dumporijo seat as an independent candidate but suffered defeat in the 2019 polls when he contested from the same seat as an NPP nominee, said that if given a chance, he will continue his “half-done works in the area”.

“If I am re-elected as an MLA, I will continue my half-done work in the area. My priority would be creation of a separate district for the assembly constituency as per popular demand,” he said.

The former legislator also assured establishment of mini secretariat building for administrative convenience, development of hydropower project in the Shee river, construction of road from Mib Geko (Arunachal) to Gerukamukh in Assam, explore railway connectivity to Daporijo via Baririjo-Dumporijo, and advanced landing ground at Belo-Kuporijo area, etc.
