BSF Meghalaya holds plantation drive at Umpling campus in Shillong

BSF Meghalaya organized a ‘plantation drive’ at BSF campus Umpling, Shillong on July 31.

Pradip Kumar, IG BSF Meghalaya, inaugurated the event by flagging off an awareness rally to promote plantation and protection of trees. More than 500 saplings of different types of plants were planted by BSF officials within the campus premises.

The school children of BSF Senior Secondary School and BSF retirees actively participated in the drive.

This initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from personnel of all ranks and their family members, who jointly planted hundreds of saplings of diverse tree species. The planting efforts extended beyond BSF Shillong and reached to BOPs along the Indo-Bangladesh border.

During his speech, the IG BSF Meghalaya stressed the significance of respecting and safeguarding the forest wealth and diverse flora and fauna for future generations. He praised the BSF school children, BSF retirees, and force personnel for their overwhelming contribution, emphasizing their vital role caring for ‘Mother Earth’.
