Some section of media on July 31, quoted the BJP MLA from Saikot assembly constituency of Churachandpur district as division of Manipur into three union territories as the only solution to the present turmoil

The Congress strongly condemned the remark of the BJP MLA who was among 10 Kuki MLAs who raised the separate administration demand in the wake of violence in the state.

Paolienlal Haokip was one of the signatories in a ‘press statement’ signed by 10 MLAs demanding separate administration issued on May 12, 2023.

“Even as the 10 MLAs and its alliance challenged the territorial integrity of Manipur, the BJP and its government in the state are yet to take up appropriate actions against them”, the MPCC vice president said.
