The Greenwood Hotels & Resorts Group announced its expansion in the business hotel segment with the launch of ‘The Greenwood Guwahati’. The strategic move reflects the group’s vision to contribute towards building a robust hospitality infrastructure development in the Northeast region, stated a press statement.
The group already manages two properties – ‘The Greenwood Resort, Guwahati’ which cater to leisure and resort segment and ‘The Greenwood, Tezpur’, a boutique hotel.
“The addition of the new hotel in strengthens the vision to become the largest hospitality infrastructure player in the region. To translate the vision into reality, the group is enthusiastic about broadening its presence across all eight states of Northeast India with a substantial investment of Rs 500 crore over the next 10 years,” the statement said.
Announcing the launch, Himanshu Kalita, managing director at The Greenwood Group, said: “Our expansion into the business hotel segment marks an exciting phase for us. Despite being a gateway to Northeast India and a major trade centre, Guwahati lacks sufficient international level hospitality options for business and trade requirements. We are trying to address this need gap and are confident that ‘The Greenwood Guwahati’ will contribute significantly in providing world class hospitality infrastructure in the city and subsequently bolster the economic development of the entire Northeast India region.”
Built at a cost of Rs 100 crore, the new hotel is equipped with 48 luxury rooms, meeting facilities, gymnasium, spa, and a swimming pool. It also features experiential dining, a jazz and karaoke bar, and a poolside Patio café.
