On the occasion of the 77th Independence Day, Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh made a heartfelt appeal to the people of the state, urging them to put an end to violence and restore the peaceful coexistence that they once shared. Against the backdrop of ongoing ethnic clashes between the Kuki and Metei communities since May 3, Singh called for unity and tranquillity.

Addressing the gathering after hoisting the National Flag at the First Manipur Parade Ground, Singh conveyed his warm wishes for a joyous Independence Day. He emphasized the significance of the National Flag as a symbol of unity, diversity, and the collective commitment to a brighter future for all citizens.

In a prior Independence Day message shared on social media platform ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), CM Biren wrote, “With immense pride and dignity, I raised the tricolour on this auspicious occasion of the 77th Independence Day at my Secretariat. As we unfurl our Nation’s flag today, we pay tribute to the spirit of freedom that flows within us. May this flag serve as a testament to our unity, diversity, and unwavering dedication to a more promising future for every individual. Happy Independence Day!”

He continued, “Wishing a joyful 77th Independence Day to all my fellow countrymen. Amidst the vibrant mosaic of our nation, let us remember that our shared spirit transcends boundaries. It is this unity that binds us in times of both triumph and challenge. On this momentous occasion, let us salute the tricolour, which unfurls a canvas of aspirations, resilience, and progress.”
