At least seven people were killed and 12 others were injured in a road accident in Assam’s Tinsukia district on September 5 night.
Police said that the incident took place on September 5 night near Bordirak area in Kakopathar when a truck hit a Tata Magic vehicle.
Bibhas Das, additional superintendent of police of Tinsukia district said that seven persons had died in the incident.
“A total of 12 persons were injured in the incident and they were rushed to hospital. We have detained the truck driver,” Bibhas Das said.
Reports said that at least 4 of the injured persons are critical and are undergoing treatment at Assam Medical College Hospital in Dibrugarh.
According to the information received, the group of people on the Tata Magic were returning home from the weekly market at Doom Dooma when the accident took place.
