Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport in Guwahati recorded a 31% growth in passenger movement in August as compared to that same period last year. The Guwahati airport, which acts as a gateway to Northeast along with its 24 domestic and two international destinations, has been witnessing rapid rise in traffic.

The Guwahati airport recorded as footfall of nearly 4.8 lakhs passengers in August, witnessing a sharp increase from the corresponding month of last year, said a statement from the Adani group-managed airport.

The top four national destinations from Guwahati were Imphal, Delhi, Kolkata and Bangaluru. Similarly, the two international destinations were Singapore and Paro.

The airport witnessed nearly 3839 movement of flights in August 2023, which is 14% higher than the last year’s August figure. “A passenger-centric approach has led to this growth,” the statement said.

The airport also handled a record footfall of nearly 5 lakh passengers in July. This traffic shows that air travel is resurging after the pandemic period.

Guwahati airport is hopeful of consistent growth in the coming winter schedule starting from the month of October. We expect a strong surge during the winter schedule season,” a statement from the airport said.
