Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a grant of Rs 100 crores for the development of Dibrugarh University on October 16.

Sarma, who was on a visit to the university, interacted with the teachers and students on various issues affecting their institution.

After the interaction, addressing the media, Himanta Biswa Sarma announced a grant of Rs 100 crores for the development of the university.

“This money will be given in three instalments for the development of the university by 2026. So the students and the university authorities should discuss and plan how to spend 100 crores so that we can solve the problems arising in the university,” the chief minister said.

Assam government will bear 50 percent, of course fees of students pursuing studies in various centres of Dibrugarh university, he added.
