MS Dhoni is undoubtedly the most loved cricketer in India and the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The captain of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) since the 2008 IPL, MS Dhoni holds a variety of records in his name, since the very first auction.

He was the first captain to win back-to-back IPL titles in 2010 and 2011. He was the first captain to lead a side in more than 100 games and then 200 games in the IPL. And along with it, he is amongst the few lower-order batters in the top ten all-time run-getters in the IPL history.

But the upcoming IPL 2024 might be MS Dhoni’s final one given that he will be almost 43 years old and during all the CSK’s matches, all eyes will be on his batting as fans eagerly watch the live cricket scores.

Here are the 3 records MS Dhoni holds in the IPL, that might not get broken:

  1. Most stumpings in the Indian Premier League (IPL)

MS Dhoni holds the record for most stumpings in the IPL as well. He is the no.1 wicketkeeper in the tournament history by some distance. MS Dhoni even kept wickets throughout the IPL 2023 tournament, when he was suffering from a severe injury to his knee.

In all, MS Dhoni had made 42 stumpings in the IPL history thus far, the most by a wicketkeeper in the tournament. He will have a chance to add more victims to this list when he turns out in what probably would be his final IPL tournament next year. And once again fans will keep an eye on love cricket scores to see what MS Dhoni has achieved next.

  1. Most dismissals in the Indian Premier League (IPL)

Given that MS Dhoni has made 42 stumpings in all IPL history, it is a given that he has most number of dismissals as well. To go with 42 stumpings, Dhoni has 138 catches as well in the Indian Premier League. This makes his total dismissals in IPL 180. The next best is Dinesh Karthik with 169 dismissals.

  1. Most matches as captain in IPL

MS Dhoni has rarely missed matches in his long tenure with the Chennai Super Kings and the Rising Pune Supergiants. He is one the fittest cricketers in the IPL history, having played 250 matches in the tournament.

However, as captain, Dhoni holds the record for playing the most matches as well. He has played 226 matches as captain, winning 133 of them and losing 91. He has a winning percentage of 58.84. The next best is Rohit Sharma, captaining MI in 158 games and winning 87.
