First day of Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival washed out

The first day of the three-day Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival, which was to have kicked off on November 17, was literally washed out due to inclement weather, with the organizers expressing their apologies and regret.

This year, arrangements for the Shillong Cherry Blossom Festival were made at Bhoirymbong.

The organizers informed that day-1 of the Cherry Blossom Festival had to be cancelled as the weather posed “potential risk” to the festival-goers and organizers alike.

However, the tickets for the first day would be valid for either Day 2 or Day 3 of the festival, the organizers announced.

There has been continuous rainfall and fog accompanied by gusty winds since the wee hours of November 17 due to the influence of the cyclonic storm Midhili.
