Arunachal DyCM Chowna Mein honoured with Chaulung Sukapha Bor Asom Samannay Award

Arunachal Pradesh deputy chief minister Chowna Mein on December 2 attended the 9th Annual Central Sukapha Divas organized by the Tai Ahom Yuva Parishad, Assam (TAYPA) central committee at Tiloi Nagar, Moran in Dibrugarh district to commemorate the historical figure Chaulung Sukapha.

During the event, Mein was conferred with Chaulung Sukapha Bor Asom Samannay Award by the Tai Ahom Yuva Parishad, Assam.

Expressing his gratitude, DyCM Chowna Mein acknowledged the profound significance of the award, considering it as an inspiration to further contribute to the rich cultural tapestry and progress of the region.

Mein highlighted the fact that the event served as a reminder of the historical significance of Chaulung Sukapha’s contributions and the enduring spirit of unity in Assam. He expressed optimism that the legacy of unity and cultural richness would continue to guide and inspire the people of Assam as well as Arunachal Pradesh.

On the occasion, Mein paid his heartfelt respects to Assam’s revered ruler Chaulung Sukapha. He highlighted the historical significance, noting that Chaulung Sukapha defended the region with valor, safeguarding the entire Northeastern region beyond Assam.

Chaulung Sukapha, as the first King of Ahom dynasty, played a pivotal role in laying the foundation of Assam. His legacy is marked by the principles of peace, prosperity, goodwill, and mutual respect among diverse ethnic groups.

A source of inspiration and a symbol of unity for the greater Assamese community, Sukapha’s remarkable life continues to guide the commitment to nation-building. Through visionary leadership, he skillfully united the region, leaving an indelible mark of brotherhood. As a courageous warrior, he not only established the framework for “Bor Asom” but also crafted an identity that intricately wove this sacred land into a framework of unity, creating a lasting impact on the cultural and historical landscape of the region, he said.

The programme was attended by Union minister for ports, shipping and waterways Sarbananda Sonowal, Assam minister Jogen Mohan, Moran MLA Chakradhar Gogoi, and president, TAYPA central committee, Bijoy Rajkonwar, among other dignitaries.
