Arunachal Pradesh’s ‘Adi Queen of Herbs’ Yanung Jamoh Lego has been conferred the prestigious Padma Shri award on the eve of 75th Republic Day on January 25.

The 58-year-old tribal herbal medicinal expert, who revived traditional healing system of the Adi tribe, is among 110 people from diverse fields chosen for Padma Shri and overall, 132 people to be conferred with Padma awards, as announced by the Government on Republic Day eve.

The East Siang district based herbal medicine expert, who has provided medical care to over 10,000 patients, educated one lakh individuals on medicinal herbs and trained SHGs in their use.

Yanung Jamoh Lego planted over 5,000 medicinal plants annually & promoted setting up of herbal kitchen gardens in every household across the district.

Despite financial constraints & personal challenges, Yanung Jamoh Lego dedicated her life for revival of the lost traditional healing system of Adi tribe in particular and the entire Arunachal Pradesh as a whole, becoming instrumental in keeping the traditional knowledge of medicines alive.

Service Medals for 3 APP officers

Meanwhile, three senior officers of Arunachal Pradesh Police have been awarded the Service Medals on the Republic Day eve.

Inspector General of Police (Admin) Apur Bitin has been conferred with the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM), while Deputy Superintendent of Police Tabi Bage and Sub Inspector Kenter Tacha chosen for the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM), according to a MHA press note.
