Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa announced on January 7 that January 22 will be observed as a dry day to commemorate the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ (consecration) of the Ram Mandir. He shared this information in a post on X, stating, “Decisions taken in today’s meeting of the Assam Cabinet include announcing dry day on January 22 on the occasion of Pran Pratishtha of Shri Ram Lalla Virajman, Approval to Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan, a new scheme to financially support rural women entrepreneurs.”

Preparations are in full swing for the consecration of the Ram Temple scheduled for January 22, attracting dignitaries and people from all walks of life. The Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirath Kshetra Trust has decided to enthrone Ram Lalla at the sanctum-sanctorum of the Ram Temple at noon on January 22.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to attend the installation of the idol of Ram Lalla at the grand temple. Invitations have been extended to notable figures in the entertainment industry, including actors Rajinikanth, Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit, Anupam Kher, Akshay Kumar, and directors Subhash Ghai, Rajkumar Hirani, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, and Rohit Shetty, along with producer Mahaveer Jain. South Indian celebrities Chiranjeevi, Mohanlal, Dhanush, and Rishab Shetty have also received invitations. The trust has invited 4,000 saints of all sects for the ceremony.

Vedic rituals for the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya are set to begin on January 16, a week before the main ceremony. A priest from Varanasi, Lakshmi Kant Dixit, will perform the main rituals. Ayodhya will observe the Amrit Mahautsav from January 14 to January 22. A 1008 Hundi Mahayagya will also be organized, feeding thousands of devotees. Several tent cities are being erected in Ayodhya to accommodate the anticipated influx of devotees for the grand consecration of the Ram Temple.
