In Barpeta, Assam, AIUDF Chief and Lok Sabha MP Badruddin Ajmal has levelled serious accusations against the Congress party, alleging its involvement in the creation of D-Voters (Doubtful Voters) and issues related to the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in the state.

During a programme at Kadamtola in Barpeta district,

Badruddin Ajmal asserted that the previous Congress government in Assam played a significant role in the emergence of problems surrounding D-Voters and the NRC. Notably, he pointed out that detention camps in the state were constructed under the Congress government’s tenure.

“Who built the detention camp in Assam? The Congress government did this,” stated Badruddin Ajmal. He highlighted that during Prafulla Mahanta’s government, approximately 1 lakh D-Voters were created. However, under the leadership of Tarun Gogoi, the Congress government allegedly managed to generate 5 lakh D voters within a year.

Ajmal questioned the Congress government’s role in creating the D-Voter problem and the NRC problem. He stated, “The Congress government said that it will do this, will give this, etc. Who built the detention camp, who created the D-Voter problem, and who created the NRC problem? The Tarun Gogoi-led Congress government did this.”

Despite these allegations, Ajmal noted the paradox that, during elections, Muslims still show strong support for the Congress party. The AIUDF chief’s accusations shed light on the complex political dynamics and historical issues in Assam.
