ANI Photo | ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ will unite people: Congress MP Pramod Tiwari

Amidst an atmosphere charged with enthusiasm, Congress MP Pramod Tiwari expressed confidence in the success of the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra,’ citing the unity witnessed among the people during the launch in Manipur. Tiwari asserted that while the BJP aims to divide society, the Congress is committed to uniting it.

“The kind of excitement that was visible in the people of Manipur…today I could see unity there. This is the guarantee of the success of the yatra…BJP will break, Congress will unite,” stated Pramod Tiwari after participating in the launch event in Thoubal on Sunday.

The yatra, flagged off by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, is set to cover over 6,700 kilometres across 67 days, traversing 110 districts. Before the commencement, party leaders and workers paid a silent tribute to those who lost their lives in the state’s recent violence.

Kharge took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, criticizing his absence during Manipur’s challenging times and accusing him of only visiting the state during elections for votes. He also commented on the Prime Minister’s invocation of Lord Ram, cautioning against using religion for political gains.

“PM Modi keeps chanting ‘Ram, Ram,’ but he shouldn’t do it to seek votes,” remarked Kharge, accusing the BJP of intertwining religion with politics and inciting people. He emphasized the Congress’s commitment to secularism, equality, and social justice.

Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Manipur was framed as a fight to protect the preamble of the Constitution. Kharge declared that the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ was undertaken to “save Constitution, democracy, and stop fascist forces.” He highlighted the Congress’s focus on ensuring employment, battling price rises, and advocating for farmers’ rights.

Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot praised Rahul Gandhi’s visit, describing it as a historic event conveying a message of peace, love, and brotherhood to Manipur, which has grappled with violence. Lok Sabha MP Danish Ali, recently suspended by the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), also attended the launch, emphasizing the yatra’s importance in uniting against divisive forces and promoting justice.

“This yatra is a call for action against divisive forces. This yatra is a drive to unite the people of our country against fear, hate, exploitation, and divisiveness,” said Danish Ali in a post on ‘X.’
