Badruddin Ajmal

All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) president Badruddin Ajmal stated that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) cannot win the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and form the government at the Centre without Muslim votes. During a press conference in Assam’s Goalpara, Ajmal, accompanied by party leaders, cited remarks from Union Minister Giriraj Singh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, suggesting that gaining Muslim votes is crucial for the BJP’s electoral success.

Ajmal mentioned the directive given by BJP leaders to visit Muslim areas, mosques, and madrasas to secure at least 10 percent of the votes. He stated that if Muslims support the BJP, they would welcome it but noted that they have advised their party members and supporters not to vote for the BJP in the upcoming elections.

In November, Badruddin Ajmal had announced that AIUDF would contest three out of 14 Lok Sabha seats in Assam and had given away 11 seats to the Congress to collectively fight against the BJP. He reiterated the party’s stance to support the INDIA bloc.

As BJP national president JP Nadda arrived in Guwahati for key party meetings, including the state executive and core committee meetings, discussions about seat-sharing agreements for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections intensified. Assam currently has nine BJP MPs, while Congress holds three seats, AIUDF one, and one seat is represented by an independent candidate out of the 14 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
