Congress spokesperson Anuma Acharya who was in Shillong highlighted the challenges faced by the country due to what she termed as severe injustice inflicted by the BJP-led NDA government during its nine-year rule

Anuma Acharya, All India Congress Committee (AICC) spokesperson and retired Wing Commander, strongly criticized the BJP’s claim of winning over 400 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Acharya, who was in Shillong to announce the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi, highlighted the challenges faced by the country due to what she termed as severe injustice inflicted by the BJP-led NDA government during its nine-year rule.

During her visit, Acharya emphasized that the BJP’s governance has resulted in significant problems, including unemployment, inflation, income disparity, mismanagement of the COVID-19 pandemic, and various crimes against marginalized communities. She also criticized the BJP’s opposition to a caste census and accused the government of compromising national security, citing the Galwan Valley clash.

Acharya expressed concerns about the BJP’s claim of winning 400 seats, suggesting that autonomous agencies like the Election Commission of India (ECI), Enforcement Directorate (ED), and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) may be influenced by the ruling party. She alleged that these institutions have been subdued, and the BJP employs them to undermine elected governments, making it a norm.

Despite these challenges, Acharya expressed confidence that the people of India would unite and raise their voices powerfully in the 2024 elections through the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra led by Rahul Gandhi. She highlighted the welfare and social security schemes implemented during the Congress-led government, including the job scheme, MGNREGA, and National Food Security, contrasting the Congress’s approach with the BJP’s perceived alignment with corporations.

Anuma Acharya concluded by asserting that the ruling party’s attempts to tarnish Rahul Gandhi’s image and spending large sums to undermine him were indicative of his fearlessness and unique leadership qualities.
