In a significant move, the Meghalaya Cabinet has announced more than 3000 job vacancies in the Home (Police) department, with additional positions in the Home Guards and Civil Defence departments. Advertisements for these posts are expected to be released in the next few weeks, providing employment opportunities across various categories.

Meghalaya government Spokesperson Paul Lyngdoh revealed that the Cabinet has also given its approval for setting different minimum and upper age limits for fresh recruitments in several key departments, including Home (Police), Excise Registration Taxation and Stamps (ERTS), Civil Defense and Home Guards, Prisons and Correctional Services, and the Forests and Environment Department.

Previously, the minimum age limit for these departments ranged between 18 and 21 years, with varying upper age limits. However, the revised limits now cater to the specific requirements of each department. For instance, the Home (Police) department will have a minimum age limit of 21 years, with an upper limit of 27 years, reflecting the physical nature of the work involved.

The Cabinet’s decision to amend the Meghalaya Finance Service Rules 1989 further underscores its commitment to ensuring uniformity and proper codification of various rules. This move is anticipated to streamline the recruitment processes and contribute to the overall efficiency of the state administration.
