In a significant development ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has graciously accepted an invitation to embark on a two-day visit to Assam, commencing on February 3.
During this visit, PM Modi is slated to lay the foundation stone and dedicate various welfare projects, collectively valued at over Rs 11,000 crore, in a move that underscores the government’s commitment to regional development. CM Sarma expressed his joy in a social media post on X, stating, “Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji has gracefully accepted our invitation to visit Assam and spend a day with the people here. He will be in Guwahati on the 3rd and 4th of February to lay the foundation stone and dedicate several welfare works.”
In preparation for this significant visit, Himanta Biswa Sarma chaired multiple preparatory meetings to ensure a seamless and successful event. The Office of Assam’s Chief Minister shared on X, “In view of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi’s visit to Assam, HCM Dr @himantabiswa chaired a series of meetings with various departments at Lok Sewa Bhawan today. HCM reviewed all arrangements pertaining to the visit and directed officials to ensure its grand success.”
Reports indicate that the Prime Minister will address a mega public rally in Guwahati on February 4, amplifying the political importance of the visit in the run-up to the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The visit not only signifies a commitment to regional welfare but also aims to engage with the public through a direct address by the Prime Minister.
