Rahul Gandhi at Sri Sri Auniati Satra in Majuli

As the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’s sixth day concluded, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized the BJP, asserting an ongoing ideological battle in the country. He stated that the yatra aims to rectify the perceived injustice inflicted by the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) while seeking justice for the people.

Speaking in Assam, Rahul Gandhi hailed the success of the 4,000 km Bharat Jodo Yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir in uniting people from various states and sections of society. He emphasized that the Nyay Yatra aims to address the perceived injustices of the RSS and BJP.

In a sharp critique of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Rahul Gandhi labelled him as “the most corrupt Chief Minister of the country.” He alleged that Himanta Biswa Sarma takes direct orders from the Centre, asserting that Assam is directly run by the BJP-led government at the national level.

Addressing the public in Lakhimpur, Rahul Gandhi asserted that Assam should be governed locally, not from Delhi, accusing Sarma of corruption and blind adherence to Prime Minister Modi’s directives.

Gandhi also criticized Prime Minister Modi for not visiting Manipur amid ongoing civil unrest, describing it as a historic instance of internal conflict in the region. He accused Modi’s policies of dividing Manipur and neglecting the violence and hatred spreading in the state.

Earlier in the day, Rahul Gandhi visited the Sri Sri Auniati Satra in Majuli, offering prayers and discussing ecological concerns with environmental activists. Responding to the Jorhat Police registering a case against individuals associated with the yatra, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh claimed no rules were broken and accused the Assam CM of attempting to hinder the yatra by deterring people from participating. He vowed to continue the yatra despite challenges from the state government.
