Leading his ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ through Manipur, Nagaland, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to arrive in Meghalaya on January 21 to enthuse his party cadres.
The yatra, which began from Manipur on January 14, will culminate on March 20 in Mumbai.
Meghalaya Congress legislator Ronnie V Lyngdoh said Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to arrive in Ri-Bhoi district as part of his ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’.
He said Rahul Gandhi will hand over the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ flag to Meghalaya Congress leaders at Jorabat.
“Gandhi will lead a public march from DTO office, Nongpoh to NSCA Mini Stadium at Pahamsyiem. He will address the public,” a Congress functionary said.
The Congress leader will then proceed to Byrnihat where he will halt for the night.
On January 23, Gandhi will address the North East Congress Coordination Committee leaders at University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya (USTM) in Byrnihat.
Meanwhile, security arrangements have been made for the visit of the Congress leader, even as party sources said a large number of people are expected to join the yatra.
