Union Ayush Sarbananda Sonowal Ayush Diksha

The Union Minister of Ayush and Ports, Shipping & Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, laid the foundation stone for the groundbreaking ‘Ayush Diksha’ centre in Bhubaneswar on January 20. The state-of-the-art facility, situated within the Central Ayurveda Research Institute campus, aims to develop human resources for future Ayush professionals.

Addressing the event, Sonowal highlighted the growing prominence of the Ayush movement over the last decade and emphasized a move towards an integrated medicine approach. He expressed the significance of the Ayush Diksha centre, stating that it would empower Ayush professionals to enhance their skills, providing world-class patient care services. The minister sees it as a catalyst for the Ayush movement, contributing to a global shift towards a healthier and happier life.

Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Sarbananda Sonowal noted the resurgence of the Ayush movement, citing the transformative impact of Yoga on global health. He emphasized Modi’s vision of a Swastha Bharat (Healthy India) and anticipates that the integrated medicinal approach will benefit the nation by promoting physical and mental well-being.

The Ayush Diksha centre will offer training programs for Ayush professionals, particularly in Ayurveda, with plans for collaboration with prominent national institutes. The institution aims to strengthen human resources, facilitate research and development, achieve self-sustainability, and generate revenue. The budget for the Ayush Diksha centre is set at Rs 30 crores, and it will feature state-of-the-art facilities, including auditoriums, modern rooms, VIP suites, a natural library, discussion rooms, a modular kitchen, and a dining lounge.

The event was attended by Aparajita Sarangi, Lok Sabha MP for Bhubaneswar, Prof Vaidya Rabinarayan Acharya, Director General of CCRAS, and other senior officials, students, and Ayush professionals. CARI, Bhubaneswar, a unit under the Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS), represents a significant stride in promoting research in Ayurveda on scientific lines.
