Tezpur University, established in 1994, is gearing up with enthusiasm and fervor to celebrate its 31st foundation day on January 21.

The significant milestone marks three decades of excellence in academics and research.

Virander Singh Chauhan, noted scientist, former chairman of University Grants Commission (UGC) and National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) will be present on the occasion as the chief guest and deliver the foundation day oration, stated a press release.

Chayan Dutta, a Tezpur University alumnus of Department of Electronic and Communication Engineering, who had successfully overseen the launch control operations of Chandrayaan-3 mission shall also be present on the occasion.

“The foundation day celebrations aim to reflect upon the university’s journey, recognize its achievements, and set the stage for future endeavors,” said Shambhu Nath Singh, vice chancellor of Tezpur University.

In order to recognize and appreciate the hard work of the students and alumni, from this year onwards the university shall give away two awards – distinguished alumnus award and distinguished student achiever award.

“I am happy to inform that Chayan Dutta is receiving alumnus award and Janmejoy Sarkar, a PhD scholar of Department of Physics is receiving the distinguished student achiever award for developing Solar Ultraviolet Imaging Telescope (SUIT) payload on-board Aditya-L1 mission,” Singh added.

Other than the students and alumni, faculty members shall also be commended during the event for their work.
