Rahul Gandhi in Meghalaya

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that they wanted to send a message to the rest of India about the pain the people of Manipur are feeling and so they started the Jodo Nyay Yatra from Manipur.

“The reason is that the ideology of the RSS and BJP has destroyed the idea of Manipur. The politics of hatred and violence have torn the state apart, causing hundreds of deaths and thousands of people to lose their property. It’s a complete tragedy! So, we initiated the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra from Manipur to convey the pain the people are enduring to the rest of India,” Rahul said addressing a gathering in Meghalaya on January 22.

In a symbolic move, Rahul Gandhi commenced the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra from Manipur on January 14, delivering a scathing critique of the ideologies endorsed by the RSS and the BJP, which he believes have wreaked havoc on the cultural fabric of Manipur.

Rahul lamented the politics of hatred and violence that has left the state in disarray, resulting in hundreds of casualties and the displacement of thousands.

Expressing bewilderment over the absence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Manipur amidst the crisis, Rahul Gandhi raised probing questions about the state’s standing within the nation. “Is Manipur not an integral part of India? Are the people of Manipur not Indian citizens?” he queried, challenging the perceived lack of attention and action from the central leadership.

Rahul went on to criticize the Prime Minister, suggesting that if Modi were genuinely committed to ending the violence in Manipur, he could achieve it within three days. The Congress leader’s statements add a political dimension to the ongoing discourse surrounding Manipur’s challenges and serve to draw national attention to the plight of the state.
