ANI Photo | We are going through period of great injustice in India: Rahul Gandhi in Manipur

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on January 14 announced the commencement of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, emphasizing its purpose to address the prevailing injustices in India. Launching the yatra from Manipur’s Thoubal, he highlighted the multifaceted nature of injustice, encompassing social, political, and economic aspects.

Gandhi criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for not visiting Manipur amidst ethnic strife, labelling it as ‘shameful’. He expressed dismay over the governance infrastructure collapse since his visit on June 29, asserting that Manipur had experienced division and widespread hatred, resulting in significant losses for its residents.

Accusing the BJP of contributing to Manipur’s plight, Rahul Gandhi pledged that his party would restore the harmony and peace for which the state was renowned. He promised to listen to the people, share their pain, and present a vision of India characterized by harmony and equity.

Gandhi alleged that the situation in Manipur symbolized the ‘hatred’ propagated by the BJP and RSS. He questioned whether Manipur was considered a part of India for PM Modi, the BJP, and the RSS.

Rahul Gandhi initiated the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, the second phase of his outreach program, covering 6,713 km across 100 Lok Sabha constituencies, 337 assembly segments, and 110 districts. The yatra, which includes Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and other leaders, will conclude in Mumbai on March 20 after 67 days.

Addressing the shift from a previous foot journey, Gandhi explained the decision for a hybrid yatra, citing the upcoming general elections as a time constraint. He shared a candid moment with children after the yatra’s launch.
